PQS is a straight line, so:

(3x - 5) + (x + 1) = 180

4x - 4 = 180

4x = 184

x = 46 degrees

$3x-5+x+1=180$

$3x+x-5+1=180$

$4x-5+1=180$

$4x-4=180$
