Juan has c cheesecakes. Clarence has 5 less than 3 times as many cheesecakes as Juan has and Darlene has 2 more than half as many cheesecakes as Clarence has. Find an expression in terms of  for the total number of cheesecakes Juan, Clarence, and Darlene have.

Hello!

We can express the number of cheesecakes people have in terms of x. Let the number of cheesecakes Juan has be x.

Thus, Clarence has 3x-5 cheesecakes. Darlene has 1/2(3x-5)+2.

Therefore, we can simply combine these expressions. x+3x-5+3x/2-5/2+2=11x/2 -11/2
