Call the amounts invested x and y

.06x +.05y  =  234.50   ⇒  6x + 5y  = 23450  ⇒  30x + 25y  = 117250    (1)

.05y +.06y  =   239.60 ⇒   5x + 6y  = 23960  ⇒ -30x - 36y  = -143760    (2)

Add (1)  and (2)

-11y = -26510       divide both sides by -11

$2410  =  y 

And using   1

30x = 25(2410)  = 117250

30x + 60250  = 117250

30x  = 57000  divide both sides by 30
