23+24+25 is 72 so the smallest would be 23 that is if im right about consecutive numbers.

Let me show you an easy way to solve this kind of problem:

Divide 72 by 3 =  24

So

24  +  24  +  24   = 72           subtract 1 from the first number and add 1 to the last

23  +  24  +  25   = 72           and there you go  !!!!!

X+X+1+x+2=72

X3+3=72

     -3  -3

x3=69

 3   3 

x=23
