When the angle of elevation of the sun is 42º, a flagpole casts an 18-meter shadow. How tall is the flagpole, to the nearest hundredth of a meter?

We can use trigonometry for this problem. This would give us:

(tan)42 = x/18

(tan)42*18 = x

16.2 = x.

So the flagpole is around 16.2 meters.

Hope this helped!
