The value of x is 22.4

Because if (3x + 4) and (5x - 3) are supplementary as same side interior angles of the transversal l, then lines m and n are parallel.

So,

(3x + 4) + (5x - 3) = 180

Solve for x

3x + 4 + 5x - 3 = 180

Collect alike terms

8x + 1 = 180

Subtract 1 from both sides

8x = 180 - 1

8x = 179

Divide both sides by 8

8x/8 = 179/8

x = 22.375

x = 22.4 (to nearest tenth)

So, for lines m and n to be parallel, the value of x will be 22.4.

(x + 4) + (3x - 2) = 180

4x = 178

x = 44.5          proof  ==>       (44.5 + 4) + (3*44.5 - 2) = 48.5 + 131.5 = 180
