Assume that you left a large measuring cup under the leak from 10:00 pm until 6:00 am the next morning. In the morning, you find the measuring cup filled to the 2 ¼ cup mark. If you were to place a big pot in the tub, to save all the water that leaked out, complete the table below, showing how much water would be in the pot every two hours over a 24-hour period.

2.25 cups in 8 hours.  That is

$${\frac{{\mathtt{2.25}}}{{\mathtt{8}}}} = {\frac{{\mathtt{9}}}{{\mathtt{32}}}} = {\mathtt{0.281\: \!25}}$$

cups per hour

2hours  2*0.28125 cups

4hours   4*0.28125 cups

6 hours  6*0.28125 cups

you get the idea
