A farmer buys 100 animals for $100. The animals include at least one cow, one p*g, and one chicken. If a cow costs $10, a p*g costs $3, and a chicken costs $0.50, how many of each did he buy?
Let
x = no. of cows
y = no. of pigs
Z = no. of chickens
And we have the two equations
x + y + z = 100
10x + 3y + .50z = 100
Since we have more variables than equations, we have multiple possibilities......here's one:
x = 5 = no. of cows
y = 1 = no. of pigs
z = 94 = no. of chickens
