If a baseball player has a batting average of 0.29 (and assuming that each time-at-bat is independent from every other time-at-bat), then for this player to get 7 hits in a row is:  (0.29) x (0.29) x (0.29) x (0.29) x (0.29) x (0.29) x (0.29)   or  (0.29)7.

 

This is an extremely unlikely occurrence, probabiliy  =  0.00017
