3 - (1/5)x = -7

Easily done if you make your variable a whole number.

(1/5) * 5 = 1

So multiply your whole equation by 5.

5 * (3 - (1/5)x = -7)

15 - x = -35

Get the variable by itself by subtracting 15 from both sides leaving:

-x = -50

Multiply the equation by (-1) or simply take away the negatives on both sides. (Same difference in this situation)

x = 50
