an aircraft flies from airport A on a bearing of 235 to another airport B 120km from A. It then flies 70km due to south to another airport C and finally 20km due east to its destination D.

And I assume that you want the distance and bearing from A to D????....if so, look at the following pic :

 

 

 

Using trig, D is located at  an angle =

 

tan-1 (-138.829 / -78.298) + 180°  =  about 240.577°  from A

 

This is a bearing of  180 + (270- 240.577) = about 209. 423°

 

And the distance, as shown, is about 159.387 km from A
