What are the integer  x  values such that  y  is bigger than  x  ?

 

When  x  is  0  ,  y  is about  4

When  x  is  1  ,  y  is about  -0.5

When  x  is  2  ,  y  is about  1

When  x  is  3  ,  y  is about  4

When  x  is  4  ,  y  is about  7

When  x  is  5  ,  y  is about  7.5

When  x  is  6  ,  y  is about  7

When  x  is  7  ,  y  is about  6.5

When  x  is  8  ,  y  is about  10

 

Also, notice how if you drew the line  y  =  x  , all the x values that have a y value that goes above that line will meet the criteria that y > x  . So....the integer  x  values such that  y  is bigger than  x are:  0, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8

 

0 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 8  =  26
