Hey, I have a question where I needed to break out the variable m.

The formula was as following

e=mgh+mv^2/2 and I did it like this, first multiply by 2 to remove the 2 from the denominator so,

2e=2mgh+mv^2 then

2e-2mgh=mv^2

-2mgh=mv^2-2e

-2mgh-mv^2=-2e

m(-2gh-mv^2)=-2e

m = -2e/(-2gh-mv^2) and I'm wondering if this is an possible answer to the question? I have another method which is

e=mgh+mv^2/2

e=m(gh+v^2/2)

m=e/(gh+v^2/2)

and I'm wondering if both methods work, and if not, why?

Both of them appear to be right, but the last result is simpler and more elegant: m=e/(gh+v^2/2).
