(24 hour clock) European DIGITAL CLOCK we don't use AM OR PM

The time is 17:00 what is the time after 237  minutes?

WE HAD THIS ON OUR MATH TEST TODAY HINT: USE modular arithmetic

No Idea how to solve this!

If I may ask what does the arrow pointing up word mean is that an indication of multiplication?

It's supposed to mean POW the 37 is the exponent of 2

Oh you mean like 37 time's itself okay that makes sense never used the symbol before I think you could use unit multipliers for this.

We had this on our math test today, You're supposed to use modulus and use the remainder or something

Intrisisting I don't know anything about modules I know unit multipliers and they can assit with this so I'll try my best ; )

okay so after multipling 37 by 37 I got 1369

then I used unit mulitipliers and got 1369 over 60 aka 1369 divided by 60 so I divided it and it turns out to be a big decimal number

so I rounded it to the nearest tenth. which is 22.82 so I would say add this to the current value you will indoubtly go onto the next day so after you go use the remaining hours.

17:00 is Military time because there are 24 hours in the day  so that would be 5: P.M

7:37 P.M would be the answer if 2 is hours and 37 is minutes

But as I was explainin it is called military time if you have a 24 hour clock and it says 13 or 16.

Everything is MINUTES 37 is the exponent of 2

That would be 74 then!

If we times it!

hmm 74 what?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough: The current time is: 17:00 (24 hour clock) what is the time after 237 Minutes

The math test in school was about modular arithmetic I think you're supposed to use that

17:00  (is 5 PM BTW)   + 2 hrs 37 min =  19:37     (or  7:37 PM)

or maybe you meant 237 minute = 3 hrs 57 min   added to 17:00= 20:57  (or 8:57 PM)

2^37 = 137,438,953,472 minutes

137,438,953,472 minutes / 60 minutes =2,290,649,224.5333..... hours

2,290,649,224.5333....hours mod 24 hours =16.5333............       hours

17 + 16.5333...  - 24 hours =9.53333 =9 hours and 32 minutes - the follwing morning!!.

(2^37)mod 60 =  32     min  after the hour

So

[2^37 - 32] / 60 =   2290649224

(2290649224 ) mod 24 =   16     hrs after 1700  hrs

The time shown on the clock will  be    16 hr 32 min  after   1700  hrs    (5PM)  = 9:32 AM =  0932 hrs

cool cool cool
