Is there another part to this problem?? We would have to know what the functions x and y were to be able to differentiate anything - and for sure before we just "plugged" "9'" into "thin air.' I have a feeling that this might be a problem dealing with parametric equations, but that's just a guess. See if you can find anymore info.........
