Scientists estimate that the number of polar bears in Alaska in 2015 was 4,023. By the year 2018, that number had dropped to 3,711.  The scientists want to model the polar bear population, p, as a function of the years, t, since 2000.

a) Represent the information we have been told as two coordinate points. Be careful to know what your values of time are for each year.

b) Calculate the rate of change in polar bears from 2015 to 2018.

c) Given what you found out in part b, how many polar bears were there in the year 2000?

d) Determine a linear relationship for the polar bear population, p, and the years since 2000, t. Make sure it's in the form y = mx + b.
