Not sure if this is correct. I was following an example. Some how I think I did something wrong. 

90 - 40 = 50

sin = 40º = .643

10 x .643 = 6.43

 

cos = 40º = .166

10 x .766 = 7.66

Notice  ....

20 * sin40  =

20 * 0.642787609687 =

12.855

Does that make sense ???   (make sure your calculator is set to degree mode....)

Let's see...using the Law of Sines, we have

b/sin40 = c/sin90       (sin90 = 1)

b/sin40 = 20

b =20sin40 = 12.855
