If the temperature rose 1/2° per hour from 8 AM to noon....the teperature at noon must have been
49 + (1/2)(4hours) =
49 + (1/2)(4) =
49 + 2 =
51° = the temp at noon
From there, it fell 1° per hour
So....at 1PM it was 50°
At 2PM it was 49°
At 3 PM it was 48°
So....it must have fallen below 49° sometime between 2PM and 3PM....
See???...not too bad...!!!
