Sam is saving money to buy a game. So far he has saved $30 , which is two-thirds of the total cost of the game. How much does the game cost?
30= 2/3x
30/(2/3) = 2/3x /(2/3)
30/(2/3) = x
$${\frac{{\mathtt{30}}}{\left({\frac{{\mathtt{2}}}{{\mathtt{3}}}}\right)}} = {\mathtt{45}}$$
Another easier was to figure it out is to take 30, divide it by 2 to get 1/3 of the cost of the game, and then multiply that number by 3. In this problem, it would look like this:
$${\frac{{\mathtt{30}}}{{\mathtt{2}}}} = {\mathtt{15}}$$
$${\mathtt{15}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{3}} = {\mathtt{45}}$$
