Equivalent means something that's equal  

The answer with the dot is the correct answer 

                                                                                                     –9         x^–1        y^–9  

Write the expression like this and reduce as much as you can   ––––  •  ––––  •  ––––   

                                                                                                    –15         x⁵         y^–3    

I did not check Guest's answer,  but equivalent often means 'simplify' to find the 'equivalent' expression......

They want you to find which of the foor answers are equal to the expression shown.  Next time you don't know what a word means you can use the dictonary.
