sqrt ( 4x+ 1) - 1 = sqrt (3x - 2) square both sides
4x+ 1 - 2sqrt(4x + 1) + 1 = 3x - 2 rearrange as
x + 4 = 2sqrt (4x + 1) square both sides once more
x^2 + 8x + 16 = 4(4x + 1)
x^2 + 8x + 16 = 16x + 4
x^2 - 8x + 12 = 0 factor
(x - 6) ( x - 2) = 0
Set each factor to 0 and solve for x and we have that x = 6 or x = 2
Both solutions check out in the original equation !!!
