5x^2 - 25x

\(5x^2 - 25x\\ =5*x*x - 5*5*x\\ \mbox{you can take 5 and x out of both these terms}\\ =5x(x-5)\)

\(x^2-7x+6\)

Look for two numbers that multiply to give +6  and add to give -7

Sionce they multiply to give a positive number they must BOTH be negative or BOTH be positive.

Since that add to a negative they both must be negative numbers.

ok they multply to +6

-6 and -1     add to -7

-3 and -2     add to -5

ok so the numbers i am looking for are -6 and -1

\(x^2-7x+6=(x-6)(x-1)\)
