Let us assume that we can write the function as :

f(x)  = a^x

And notice that we have :

.36  = a²      (1)

And

.1296  = a⁴    (2)

Divide (2) by (1)

.1296 / .36  =  a⁴ / a²

0.36  = a²        take the positive square root of both sides

0.6  = a

So.....our function is

f(x)   = a^x   = 0.6^x
