Avg rate of change on [ a, b ] = [ g(b) - g(a)] / [ b - a]
So....on [ -3, - 1] we have [ 9 - 5] / [ -1 - (-3) ] = 4/ 2 = 2
[-1, 1 ] is correct
[ 1, 3 ] = [ 13 - 17 ] / [ 3 - 1 ] = -4/ 2 = -2
[ 3, 4 ] is correct
