Cheryl has 5 ft of ribbon. She cuts a 3 3/4-ft strip to make a hair bow. Then she cuts a 5/6- ft strip for a border on a scrapbook page. Is there enough ribbon for Cheryl to cut two 1/3-ft pieces to put on a picture frame? explain

Why did you change your text color to white? This is not right. Yo do not need to be fancy here.

If she started with 5 feet, she then cuts off 33/4 feet to make a hair bow, being left with 5 - 33/= 11/4 feet.

Then she cuts off 5/6 feet to make a border on a scrapbook page, being left with

11/4 - 5/6 = 5/5/6

                = 15/12 - 10/12

                = 5/12 feet.

If she needs to cut 2 1/3-feet pieces, she will need 2(1/3) = 2/3 feet

                                                                                           = 8/12 feet.

She does not have enough ribbon since 2/3 > 5/12
