In a circle with center O, AD is a diameter, ABC is a chord, BO = 5, and ABO = arc CD = 50 degrees. Find the length of BC.

 

1/   Using the law of sines find AB, AO      (AO * 2 = AD)

 

2/   Using trig find AC         (ACD is the right triangle)

 

3/   Subtract AB from AC and you'll get BC = 10 - 5*sqrt(3)
