100% - 30% = 70%
x => 100%
350000 => 70%
x = 350000*100% / 70%
x = 500000
Let the population of the city 10 years ago = P, then:
P - 30%P =350,000
0.70P =350,000 divide both sides by 0.70
P =350,000 /0.70
P =500,000 people 10 years ago.
