I've noticed several very common issues on here mainly involving questions.

1. Try solving the problem before just asking people for answers.

2. People posting the same question several times in a row.

3. People being too direct when answering questions, ex. not explaining how to do.

So do you agree or do you have other issues?

Your points are well made, Riddler

As for 3, I generally try to provide the "steps"  when I solve a problem, but.....I must admit.....I don't always dot every "i"   or cross every "t".......just giving answers without showing any work is generally not very helpful

I also like to see some effort on the questioner's part as to how they may have approached a solution......this gives us a guidepost as to what might be giving them trouble.....

I might add one thing.....many of these questions are just "calculator" problems.......I will generally ignore something that can be solved by hitting "enter"  on a calculator

For instance....."What's the square root of 10??"

cool cool cool

Agreed CPhill when I attempt to help (rarely) I try to show the steps and everyonce in a while try to leave them a solving point.

Hi Riddler,

I agree with your points.

1. Try solving the problem before just asking people for answers.

It is also really good if the question asker talks a little about what they have tried and why it didn't work etc.

2. People posting the same question several times in a row.

   Sometimes this happens accidentally.

3. People being too direct when answering questions, ex. not explaining how to do.

Sometimes if the forum is very busy some of us can get a bit lazy about offering explanations.

BUT the explanation is the MOST important bit.

I often think half answers are better than whole ones.  Help them get over the bit that is probably troubling them and let the asker finish it.

4.  It is important that people are always polite.  Question askers often forget their manners.  A please before, and a thank you afterwards, costs the question asker nothing, except a smidge of their time, and it actually means a lot to the answerers who have helped them.

NOTE TO UESTION ASKERS:  We like nothing more than to explain our answers to you.  If you do not understand SAY SO politely of course.  And pester us until you DO understand.

Thank you for starting this post Riddler :)
