Train A leaves Station A at exactly 8AM, travelling at a steady rate of 30 mph. Train B leaves Station B also at exactly 8AM, travelling at a steady rate of 35 mph. The distance between the two Stations is 130 miles. When will the two Trains pass each other? And what distance did each Train cover when they passed each other? Thanks for any help.

Rate x Time = distance

train A    30t = distance

train B     130 - 35t = distance

30t = 130 - 35t

65t = 130

t = 2 hours

As an answer to the second question.....

Train "A"   will have traveled 30(2)   = 60 miles when they meet

And Train "B" will have traveled  35(2)  = 70 miles when they meet

cool cool cool
