how do I solve operations with complex numbers when there are radicals, such as this: (-2 + radical over -12) + (8 + radical over -27)
\((-2 + \sqrt{-12}) + (8 +\sqrt{-27})\)
= \(-2+2\sqrt{-3} + 8 + 3\sqrt{-3}\)
Combine like terms.
=\(6+5\sqrt{-3}\)
The square root of negative one equals i, so take that out.
= \(6+5i\sqrt{3}\)
