how do I solve operations with complex numbers when there are radicals, such as this: (-2 + radical over -12) + (8 + radical over -27)

$$(-2 + \sqrt{-12}) + (8 +\sqrt{-27})$$

$$-2+2\sqrt{-3} + 8 + 3\sqrt{-3}$$

Combine like terms.

=$$6+5\sqrt{-3}$$

The square root of negative one equals i, so take that out.

$$6+5i\sqrt{3}$$
