Find the volume of the composite solid. Round your answer to the nearest tenth.
the solid is just a sphere (the two hemispheres make up one) plus a cylinder, so to find the volume of the shape, we must calculate the volume of the cylinder and then the volume of the sphere, and add those two values up.
the volume of a sphere is (4/3) · π · r^3.
so to find the volume of the sphere, we do (4/3) · π · 3^3 = (4/3) · π · 27 = 4 · π · 9 = 36π !
the volume of a cylinder is π · r^2 · h.
so to find the volume of the cylinder, we do π · 3^2 · (12 - 6) = π · 9 · 6 = 54π !
now to solve the volume of the composite solid, we simply just do 54π + 36π to get 90π.
90π = 282.6.
hope this helped! please let me know if you are confused about anything i did :)
