the area of a trapezoid is 128.4 feet. If the height of the trapezoid is increased by a factor of 5, what is the effect on the area?

Assuming  that  the  bases  remain the same....If the  heght  is  increased  by a  factor of  5,  then  the   area  is also  increased  by a factor  of  5

 

We  can see this  as follows

 

Area  before increase   =  (1/2) h ( sum of bases)

 

Area  after  increase  =  (1/2) (5h) (sum of  bases)  =  5 [ ( 1/2)h (sum of bases ) ] =  5 times  the original area
