I am confused 5/(3+4x) = 4/(4x+3).

If we cross multiply, we get

5(4x+3) = 4(3+4x)

20x+15=12+16x

4x +15 = 12

4x = -3

x = -3/4

but, if we multiply both sides by (4x+3), we get

5=4 no solution which one is right and why the the wrong one wrong?

why cant we distribute here? 5(4x+3) = 4(3+4x)

Note that we can  see that there is no solution to this....re-writing, we have

5/ (4x + 3)  = 4 / (4x + 3)

We can't divide 5  by someting and get the same result as dividing  4 by the same someting

So....no solution
