Consider the following sets :

A) Universal Set A= {-7, -1,2,8,9,11,13,17,22}

Set B={-1,2,9,11,17}

Set C={-1,8,13,22}

B) are sets B and C subsets of set A ? Explain

C) is set B'= set C ? Explain

D) find how many elements are in each of the following.

    Ï) set B only

    Ïï) set C only

    Ïïï) set B and set C

    Ïv) set A but not in B or set C

A) Universal Set A= {-7, -1,2,8,9,11,13,17,22}

Set B={-1,2,9,11,17}

Set C={-1,8,13,22}

B) are sets B and C subsets of set A ? Explain

Yes......every element of B and/or C is contained in A

C) is set B'= set C ? Explain

No...B'  = { −7, 8, 2, 13, 22 } ≠ C

D) find how many elements are in each of the following.

    Ï) set B only   = 5

    Ïï) set C only  = 5

    Ïïï) set B and set C  =  8   [ I'm assuming "and" isn't referring to the intersection of these sets, just to the total number of elements in both sets combined ]

    Ïv) set A but not in B or set C  = 1
