The slope is

[ 2 - 7 ] / [ 3 - -1 ] =  -5 /4

Using the second point and the  slope to  write the equation of the line

y= -(5/4) (x -3) + 2

When x = -6

y = (-5/4) ( -6 - 3) +  2

y = (-5/4)(-9) + 2

y = 45/4  + 8/4

y =  53 / 4
