.A line has the equation y=-2x/3 and passes through the point (2, -8) write the equation for the line in standard form.

2, -8    is not on the line    y = 2x/3

                 it IS on the parallel line    y =  2x/3 - 9 1/3         multiply both sides by 3

                                                    3y = 2x - 28

                                                 -2x + 3y = -28             Is that what you need?
