Could someone help me in understanding Special Right Triangles?

This might refer to

 

 

(1) a 45°/45° right-triangle, with sides in the ratio 1:1:√2 so 

     sin(45°) = 1/√2,  cos(45°) = 1/√2,  tan(45°) = 1

 

(2) a 30°/60° right-triangle with sides in the ratio 1:√3:2 so

     sin(30°) = 1/2,  cos(30°) = √3/2, tan(30°) = 1/√3

     sin(60°) = √3/2, cos(60°) = 1/2,  tan(60°) = √3

What is a special right triangle?  This means nothing to me.  Sorry.
