Could someone please explain how to do this f(x) and graphing problem?
http://i66.tinypic.com/214734j.jpg
f(-3) ....this says to go to x = -3 and read off the associated y value......at x = -3, f(x) = y = -1
f-1(1)......note, we are looking for the x value on f(x) where y = 1........this is found at x = 0 ....so the point (0,1) is on f(x)....then, the point (1,0) is on the inverse which is the same as f-1(1)
The domain of the inverse will = the range of the original function......this is the span of y values covered by the original function = [ - 3, 3 ] .....note that -3 and 3 are both included in the domain of f-1
