Solve for x:
(log(3 x-1))/(log(2)) = 4

Multiply both sides by log(2):
log(3 x-1) = 4 log(2)

4 log(2)  =  log(2^4)  =  log(16):
log(3 x-1) = log(16)

Cancel logarithms by taking exp of both sides:
3 x-1 = 16

Add 1 to both sides:
3 x = 17

Divide both sides by 3:
Answer: |  x = 17/3

\(\color{aqua}log_2(3x-1)=4\)

\(\color{aqua} 3x-1 = 2^4\)

\(\color{aqua} 3x=16+1\)

\(\color{aqua} x= \frac{17}{3}\)
