If I am given an equation that says an ellipse is centered at (4,2) with a major vertical axis 20 units long and a minor axis 6 units long, which equation do I use? It doesnt say which axis it is parallel to, but it says it has a major VERTICAL axis of 20 units, so does that mean I use the formula for the vertical axis? (x-h)^2/b^2 + (x-h)^2/a^2 ??
