I would first convert to fractions then do the subtraction  ( it will be a negative answer)

x = .02020202.....

100x = 2.02020202

99x = 2

x = 2/99

y = .002002002....

1000y = 2.002002...

999y = 2

y = 2/999

2/999 - 2/99 =  (22- 222) / 10989   = -200 / 10989
