5 + 1.25N = 26.25     where N is the number of games Marvin played

 

Subtract 5 from both sides

 

1.25N = 21.25       divide both sides by 1.25

 

N = 17 games

well its $26.25-$5. then you get $21.25. you then divide that by $1.25 and boom theres your answer

If we set the number of games as N, then:

1.25N + 5=26.25

1.25N=26.25 - 5=21.25

N=21.25/1.25

N=17 No. of games Marvin played.
