Are of a semi-circle =   (1/2)*pi * (D/2)^2      where D is the diameter...so we have

50 *pi  = (1/2)*pi * (D/2)^2     divide both sides by pi, multiply both sides by 2

100 = D^2 / 4      multiply both sides by 4

400  = D^2        take the square root of both sides

20  = D
