(a) kilometers.........2200 m = 2.2 km so the total displacement in km = 3.1 - (-2.2) = 3.1 + 2.2 = 5.3 km
(b) meters........3.1 km = 3100 meters so the total displacement = 3100 - (-2200) = 5300 m
