What value of x will give the minimum value of 2x^2-12x+3?
This is an upward -turning parabola
In the form y = ax^2 + bx + c.....the x value that will give the minimum is -b / [2a]
So we have that -b = 12 and a = 2
So...the minium occurs at x = 12 / [2(2) ] = 12 / 4 = 3
