E= −2.4t+75

A big cruise ship drops anchor off the Caribbean island of Antigua. The heavy anchor drops into the water at a constant rate. The equation shown above gives the anchor's elevation, E, measured in meters relative to the water's surface, after t seconds. How many meters does the anchor drop every 55 seconds?

-2.4(55) + 75 =

-57 m  in 55 sec

-2.4(110) + 75 =

-189 m in 110 sec

So...it drops  189 - (-57)  = 132m   every 55 sec
