Find the value of y so that the line that passes through the points (3,-8) and (5,y) has a slope of -3/4
I believe the answer you provided was incorrect although I could be mistaken. I believe the equation is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
slope = - 3/4 = (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)
= (-8-y)/(3-5)
6/4 = -8-y
y = -8 - 6/4 = - 9 1/2
