If I am solving an equation, 2(3w)+2w=60, do I distribute the 2 to the 3w, making it 6w^2, or do I just multiply the 2 and 3 together to make 6w?

In these cases you should always dissolve the parenthesi firstly. (Is that plural for parenthesis? ) Either way, after that, you should continue as you were.
