how do I write an equation of the perpendicular line 5y=x-10 through (3,-4)?

The slope of the given line = (1/5)

So the slope of our perpenducular line is the negative reciprocal of (1/5) = -5

And we can use the point-slope form to write

y - (-4)  = -5(x - 3)

y + 4 = -5x + 15

y = -5x + 11      this is in slope-intercept form
