Find the values of k for which the equation

  2x2 = kx-3k2

 has no real roots.

2x^2 = kx-3k^2

 

2x^2 - kx + 3k^2  = 0

 

For this to have real roots, we must have that

 

k^2 - 4(2)(3k^2)  ≥ 0

 

k^2 - 24k^2  ≥ 0

 

-23k^2   ≥ 0

 

k^2  ≤ 0

 

This is only true when k = 0.........thus any other value of k will produce non-real solutions
